Our friends at 14 Stories, the first wedding planning firm in the U.S. to specialize in planning legal same-sex weddings are continuing their pioneering ways by launching a clothing line of ready to wear suits, tuxedos and accessories specifically for lesbian, queer and trans weddings. The clothing line, named Fourteen, is the first line of ready to wear garments created specifically for this market.

In the Fourteen clothing line, jackets and shirts have smaller armholes and shorter arm lengths, as well as a shorter torso measurement. Necklines and shirt cuffs are modified, with more bust room added where needed, all without sacrificing design and style.
“I’ve worked with hundreds of LGBT couples and one of the major challenges is finding attire for their wedding day particularly if they are butch women, transgender or do not want to wear a wedding dress. Fourteen solves this problem with a ready to wear line that anyone around the globe can purchase,” says Bernadette Coveney Smith, founder of 14 Stories.
According to the Gay Wedding Institute, 58% of lesbian brides have at least one partner in a suit or tuxedo. Most have men’s suits altered for their female body or pay thousands for a custom piece.
Fourteen is designed by Miami-based clothing designer (and Fourteen partner) Marialexandra Garcia. Marialexandra is a renowned and award winning fashion designer based in Miami. She led her eponymous design company to sales in over 60 US specialty stores and major retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue. Marialexandra was honored by fashion bible, Vanidades, at the Tribute to the Hispanic Women in the Arts event.
